In this study we’ll take a look at Abram’s response to the capture of his nephew Lot. The bible tells us that during this period in history many of the kingdoms in the known world were at war with each other. As a result, Lot was caught in the middle. But upon hearing of his nephew’s capture, Abram led an army of three hundred eighteen men and went in pursuit of the invading forces. As it happened, Abram and his men caught up with the invaders and defeated them, and in turn rescued Lot, his family and all of their possessions. But let’s hear the whole story. Have your bible handy as we join Pastor Mark in chapter 14 as we continue our study of Genesis.

In this study we will continue to follow the story of Abram as he comes to the rescue of his nephew Lot. The bible tells us that during this time in history the leaders of the various kingdoms rose up in war against each other. Well this had a direct impact on Lot and his family as they had previously settled in the city of Sodom. The warring armies had pillaged the area and had taken Lot as their captive. But even though Lot and Abram had their differences in the past, Abram would not stand by and let his family fall captive to these ruthless invaders. So what did he do? If you’re just joining us, we have been studying the account of the separation between Abram and Lot. To put it simply, the land was not big enough to sustain all of the people and animals of both groups, so Abram suggested that they split up. The bible tells us that Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled in the cities of the valley of Jordan. After the split, The Lord revealed to Abram that the land in which he settled would be given to him and his descendants forever. But what would become of Lot and his family? Well let’s find out as we join Pastor Mark in Genesis chapter 13 for the conclusion of a message entitled Look up and move.
